Hosted aboard MV Serafina II our private dining cruises offer a wonderful way for groups to enjoy the River Thames in Oxford whilst enjoying an indulgent afternoon tea or a three course lunch or dinner.  Aboard the vessel you will experience the same exquisite catering as served in the restaurant whilst enjoying the sights and sounds of river life.

Your outing can begin with a drinks reception on the river terrace before starters are served aboard the boat prior to setting off.

During the cruise you will take in river sights steeped in a thousand years of Oxford history, inspiring great writers such as Lewis Carroll and C.S. Lewis, whilst being served a delightful main-course, dessert and coffee. During your 90 minute cruise you will pass beautiful countryside, the University Regatta course, the College Boat Houses and many more splendid landmarks.

Our private dinner cruise offers the chance to relax, eat well, and enjoy an indulgent taste of river life in Oxford. This cruise costs £65 per person (subject to minimum passenger numbers). 

Afternoon Tea Cruise

This relaxing afternoon cruise sails downstream from Folly Bridge taking in the best known reach of the River Thames in Oxford. Traveling down the University Regatta Course we pass Christ Church Meadows, the University College Boat Houses and other landmarks on our way to Iffley lock. This is often a busy and vibrant section of the river where training rowing crews, punts and pleasure boats jostle for river space in an wonderful display of Oxford at play. Passing through the lock at Iffley is an experience in itself. The river scenery and fascinating buildings combining to form a picture perfect location. Beyond Iffley we travel in to the tranquil water meadows that surround Oxford and there are abundant opportunities to spot wildlife amongst the green banks and overhanging willows. We turn for home at Rose Island, a favourite destination of Lewis Carroll and Alice Liddell on their river journeys.     

Aboard the boat we serve an indulgent afternoon tea. The traditional menu typically includes.

  • A Selection of Finger Sandwiches
  • Homemade Scones with Strawberry Jam, Clotted Cream and Fresh Strawberries 
  • A Selection of Cakes, Tarts or Petit Fours 
  • Tea
